Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic

Got a knack for keeping cars and trucks on the road? Then join the Army National Guard as a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic and help keep freedom moving forward. In this role you will have the opportunity to supervise and perform unit maintenance and recovery operations on gasoline and diesel fueled light-wheeled vehicles. In short, if it’s on wheels, you’ll get a crack at it. And after your paid training, you’ll be qualified to maintain and repair any number of vehicle systems and components, qualifying you to step right into a civilian vehicle maintenance career.

As a Soldier in the Army National Guard, you join an elite group of warriors who train part-time to be ready full-time, should their State or Nation call them to serve. The Guard is the oldest branch of the military and its members have a long and noble history of serving at home and abroad to ensure the safety and freedom of their fellow citizens.

Major Duties
Repairs and maintains:

Complete vehicle drive train

Power assisted brake systems
 

bullet

Wheel vehicle suspension systems
 

bullet

Wheel vehicle wheel/hub assemblies
 

bullet

Wheel vehicle mechanical (manual) steering systems
 

bullet

Wheel vehicle hydraulic (power) steering systems
 

bullet

Wheel vehicle crane/hoist/winch assemblies

High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply – ask a recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED)

Must be between the ages of 17 and 42

Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards

Must be able to lift very heavy objects
 

bullet

Must have normal color vision
 

bullet
